Poppy Installation

  • Poppy Installation

The poppies will be up for 2 weeks and we would love you to join us for the unveiling on 1st November at 2pm next to the bell tower. Our heartfelt thanks to every single person who has worked so hard to contribute towards this wonderful project.

We have been working on it for 10 months and it has been a truly community wide project. We have had poppies sent to us from old age homes, schools, the Battle Brownies, Aspen’s (supporting autistic adults and those with learning disabilities), different churches, many individuals and other organisations. It is a labour of love and commemorates 80 years since the end of World War II.

We hope you will come and look at all the hard work that has gone into this project and remember the sacrifice that so many made for our freedom.

  • Remembrance Sunday

The Dean and churchwarden would like to invite you to attend the Remembrance Sunday Service at St Mary’s Church in Battle on Sunday 9th November at 10.50am. The service will follow the traditional format.

In order to seat everyone promptly we will reserve seats for dignitaries who confirm their attendance. We would respectfully request that others and those not joining the parade be seated at the church by 10.40.

The parade will assemble at the Coach park in Market Road at 10.15. It is expected to leave at 10.25 arriving at the church at 10.40. Flag bearers will fall out first and take up a position to line the church path before members of uniformed organisations file into church.
